River types of North- and North-East Germany
The aim of the project “Final studies to include the river types of North- and North-East Germany into the German river typology and assessment system“ was to review the biocoenotic relevance of newly delineated river types and to develop assessment methods with benthic invertebrates as well as with macrophytes and phytobenthos for these river types.
Relating to typology and to river assessment with the Biology Quality Element “benthic invertebrates” the innovations refer to the following river types:
Typ 21 (Streams influenced by lake-outlets)
Typ 22 (Streams in the marshes)
Typ 23 (Baltic Sea tributaries influenced by brackish water)
Further information on the scientific background are provided by the final report on the project “River assessment NNO” (in German).
