Generation and implementation of a new assessment system

The project “Extension and adaptation of the national assessment system for benthic invertebrates to international requirements” (short title: Assessment benthic invertebrates) aims at (1) development of an assessment system for the majority of German river types and (2) development of tools for applying the system in water management.

Specifically for water managers, the following products have been generated:

• The assessment software package “ASTERICS incl. PERLODES”

• A manual for applying the software

• A manual for river assessment (focus: Sampling, lab processing, identification, calculation and data interpretation)

• Training materials and a concept for training courses
